Hi, my name is David Swann of Seven Creeks Leather.

Ever since I was a kid, I have been a fan of the old westerns - Bonanza, The Rifleman, Gunsmoke and of course the Duke, John Wayne. So much so that about 6 years ago I decided I wanted to make a holster for a toy cap gun that I have had since I was about 10 years old. That first attempt was pretty woeful, so I bought some books (because there were no leather craft courses available) and learnt some skills, I kept honing those skills till I won first prize at the Royal Melbourne Show in 2004 with a true reproduction of a western holster from 1893. My portfolio expanded to include custom made belts, corporate logos, guitar straps and leather Christmas cards, taking out first prize and “Best In Show” with a reproduction of a 1930’s western holster in 2005 and an embossed and cross dyed guitar strap in 2006. I now include Australiana themes on belts and guitar straps, hand dying Australian flora in true to life colours. Wall plaques and leather clocks, (Leather Artwork) of outback scenes, ships, lighthouses, animals and floral themes have also joined the stable.

The Seven Creeks name? Well, on one of our many trips up the Hume Highway one day, I noticed a sign for Seven Creeks just outside Euroa, Victoria and the name stuck in my mind. Late 2006, when I decided there was enough interest in my craft to warrant a business venture, there was really no other choice. All my products are hand crafted from only the finest leathers and custom designed to the customers requirements.

I believe more and more people are tired of the throw away products that are available today and are looking for solid, long lasting, handcrafted products, made the way they used to be, that’s what Seven Creeks Leather is all about.

It’s not only that leather will last a lifetime, but the smell, feel and warmth of leather is a joy to experience.
As already stated, I normally specialise in one off, unique products, ideal gifts for that special someone or to send overseas, but a selection of my belts and guitar straps are available for sale at 27 Aanensen Crt Montmorency, Victoria. I have also carried out repairs to stockwhips, leather clothing and even a 100 year old bellows. I also have a number of stockwhips for sale, Australian made naturally.
